Indy to Columbus. Three days. Some better than the first. Rather than a narrative just a few observations.
Weekends are the worst. They are busy, more expensive, and things are closed (mostly Sunday in small towns). There was a costume dog run/walk going on down town in Indy. It was insanely cute but I had to walk through the madness.
Getting out of town is always slow. Intersections and red lights abound. Also the first few miles are slow as you warm up.
Trails are relaxing. Turning off a road onto a trail makes you feel 100 lbs lighter.
Trails are slow. It is a combination of things. First off you should not speed down trails. People treating the trail like a race track is annoying. Trails cross roads and you have to stop at every one of them. Benches have magnets that draw you in and keep you from making miles. I get 10 mph on trails compared to 12-14 on roads. Still, trails are better than a busy road.
Squirrels are just as indecisive and erratic when you are biking as when you are driving a car.
Bike trails typically run where there were railroads and along rivers. So often “Wrong side of the tracks” and “Down by the River” apply to your location when riding trails. (I am talking to you Dayton)
People in Indiana still litter like it is 1960.
Even though I enjoy biking and have developed the ability to ride all day, after 6 hours it really isn’t that much fun. Lucky for me I brought golf clubs with me.
Tween boys riding their bikes in a pack are unnerving. Especially when they start cat calling you and complimenting your calves.
If you drive an Audi, a car with a NASCAR sticker, or a rental RV I don’t know what cyclist hurt you in the past but it was not me.
Rant over. Like I said I am tired. Not hurt or wanting it to be over but my edges are worn down. That explains why there have been fewer posts.
I have made excellent miles and find myself in Columbus. I stopped in on the Wright Brothers Bicycle Shop. Yes, they made bikes before planes. I also got to a covered bridge built in 1894. Lastly I visited the sight of the first NFL game. Oddly it is a city baseball field now.
Only a few more states to go but lots of fun coming up.

1) you forgot pickup trucks to that list. It’s always some A-hole in a 2005 F150
2) gotta hear the full story about the near death experience with the teen cycle Gang. Please tell me they were riding BMX bikes 🚲
BMX bikes, one of them riding on the pegs, and pink wife beaters. Thought I was in a David Lynch film.
When do you get to DC? We’ve got a shower, washing machine, and a comfortable bed waiting for you!
